The funeral for Sheriff Ham went really well. He was so loved. Police funerals are hard for anyone in police work as they know how quick someone can be gone and we are a big family.
We were getting ready to go to a friends house for his wife and his son’s birthday when I got a phone call from the sheriff’s office stating he had died., OMG! He was not even on duty, what in the world happened, a wreck? He was only in his 30’s and they were out fixing fence before everyone got there. The cake and presents all set up on the table and everything ready. They were laughing as they worked together, they loved their small gentlemen’s farm of 5 acres. He was driving a metal fence post into the ground with a pole driver and he said “one more whack for good luck” and died. He blew an aortic aneurysm and was dead before he hit the ground. No one could have saved him. What a tragic waste.
He was a much beloved officer like Ham by the public and his fellow officers. His funeral as large too and I still remember the day so well.
No matter what your loved ones do in life, enjoy every minute and appreciate every minute because you never know when it will be their last. Some occupations are more hazardous then others and those families do more thinking about their loved ones being gone and some families break under that pressure of watching them go to work and wondering if they will come home again. What I am trying to say is it can happened anytime, anywhere to anyone so appreciate your loved ones NOW. The past is the past because it is over, the future may not happen and the present is present because it is your gift, enjoy every minute of it.
