One evening we had a report of a loose bull in downtown. It was chasing people and was now located at a small grocery store and people could not get to their cars.
The city patrol responded down there. He got out to try and drive the bull, no way was the bull having this and chased the officer too. He got in his patrol car and decided to turn the siren on to scare the bull out of the front of the store. That was a bad idea, that just made the bull mad. That bull charged the patrol car and took it right in the driver’s door denting the whole side. The officer called dispatch asking for back up as he had a mad bull destroying his patrol car.
Several officers responded to the scene of the officer needs assistance call. That did not please the bull either so he charged the patrol car again. I am not sure what he liked about that patrol car or maybe just hated the officer but every time he attacked it was the same patrol car. Finally one officer being a local boy got a rope out of the patrol unit’s trunk. Everyone was thinking, surely he is not going to rope that thing. That bull is a man killer.
Well cattle aren’t quite as dumb as people think some of the time. The officers did not try to rope the bull just swing the rope around and yelled and that old bull just turned around and quietly started walking away from the officer who drove him to the fairgrounds and put him in a pen.
Now how do you explain to your supervisor that your car was totaled trying to play cowboy? That officer is teased to this day.
